I finally realized, after trying two more times to upload a fresh version, that I missed some files. So it was my own idiot self causing the problem. Boy, whatever I missed was causing a hissy fit, too. The Write a Post field was insanely slow, the Save and Publish buttons flickered and didn’t work, my computer fan would come on and huff like it was in labor, category labels wouldn’t stick. WordPress complained mightily until I figured out my own error.
I have reservations about the image/media interface but otherwise WordPress 2.5.1 seems to be working OK.
I’m Drupal now, but I know of three people who had trouble with themes.
I uploaded a whole fresh download (did it twice) and finally think I have it working. Whew.
What was it doing?
